Repairing limestone fireplaces
Limestone is brittle, so it is easily damaged. However, it is usually possible to repair cracks or chips.
A small offcut of limestone
White marble filler
Sandpaper
Grind down the offcut of limestone
Mix the limestone dust into the white marble filler
Apply the filler to the crack or chip, so it stands proud of the surface
Allow to dry
Sand down the filler until it is flush with the stone surface
It is advisable to reseal the stone after repair
Repairing Natural Marble Fireplaces
This method works well on natural marble, but cannot be used on micro-grain marble.
